Title: Vice mounting ideas
Post by: jgp12000 on May 05, 2021, 01:40:12 PM
I have a vice I have not mounted yet and am thinking of mounting it on a shelf between 2 studs in my shop. If anyone has any ideas or pics of what they did I would like to see them? My blacksmith uncle had his on a metal pole in the yard with a cover on it, I was also thinking of something portable with casters I could roll out of the shop when needed ?
Thanks,
James

Mine are mounted on bench, but my buddy has a heavy one mounted on 3" square steel tubing with a cross as the base so its portable.

Mine's a little one that clamps to the table edge. IMO, for a med. - large size, the more room you have 360 degrees around it, the better. Portable would be ideal.
