Title: Dog and Spring on Squidder
Post by: L.I. Anthony on January 14, 2012, 05:03:37 PM
I am rebuilding an older Squidder. It has a square brass post to hold the dog spring in place, instead of the normal notch in the side plate.   I can't seem to get it to stay in place.
Every time I reassemble the reel the dog will not engage the gear sleeve.

Any advice ?
Thanks

Anthony, did you just get that reel. I looks like someone tried to repair a broken post and didn't do a good job. I have seen that little post break off on some of my older black plate reels. Try to shape that custom post into a concave shape at the area where the spring makes contact. You should be able to do it by using a dremel and the right bit, of course I don't know how good of a job they did securing that post :-\.
