Title: Alan - Drag Stacks - Pressure Rating
Post by: treidm on January 27, 2012, 03:15:55 AM
Alan:

I saw you did one that had a 1+3 (You said it was about 20Lbs)
You replaced it with thinner 1+5 (You said it was about 30-35Lbs)
That's close to 5Lbs per washer for those diameter of surfaces.

Do you have a way of guesstimating drag ratings?
Or just have to measure with scale?

Is it about 5Lbs per drag washer?

Regards, Reid

no, it's more like 5 pounds per drag washer that is inside the main gear, so the jigmaster would be 15 pounds and the 4/0 senator would be 25 pounds.  the problem is that so many other things fail way before that.  the maximum practical drag is 50% of those numbers, and the best working drag for longterm use is maybe 30%.  gotta understand, i'm playing really fast and loose with the numbers.  there are more exceptions to these than not.   :-\
