Title: Duel light 80 one speed reel
Post by: 54bullseye on February 16, 2022, 09:59:17 PM
I picked up this Duel reel a while ago I had heard they were pretty good reels especially the two speeds. This is only a single speed model . I took it apart today and it seems to be a well made reel and fairly simple inside. Drags a very similar to the Everol reels !!
Has any body here ever fished one ???   John Taylor

What a beauty John - nice work!
I've fished them a bit and worked on many.
The two-speeds use a winch design, ie reverse-wind for low gear.
They're beautifully designed and built - as you note - are relatively light and a real pleasure to use.
Unfortunately, I don't think they're being made any longer.
That said, I think I can see a two-speed in your collection soon  ;) :D
All the best mate, Justin

I have used the Duel Speedy 12's for trolling stripers.  Probably the smoothest reel I ever caught a striper on, but not for wire lining obviously.
Really nice/tight reels.
Best,
Dom
