Logged into the site today and there is a new look and I'm not happy with it. 😟
When did this happen?
They talk about it over in the Website Issues & Technical Problems Section (https://alantani.com/index.php?board=114.0) under What a Nightmare and a couple of other topics.
Seems to be fine now. New look is OK.................... old dogs don't like new tricks.
Cheers:
Todd
larry, everybody is ok with it except you and me......
Been navigating through it with an open mind and getting orientated. Don't think it will be as painful as first experience 😜

Think you are right, Larry —-
Just takes a little practice, observation with an open mind that it should work, and some "hands on".
If we each took an hour a day for the next week to do some posts, photo uploads, updating our profiles and personal information —- and getting into as many features as possible —- we may find it is actually much better than the old site. We are just not used to the new look.
But it is mostly all there —- and with a whole lot more potential.
Today —- unlike in our previous years of keeping things forever —- if a device or a website will not be supported anymore by the companies that made it —- we are not doing ourselves any favors by hanging on to those dinosaurs.
I have more than a few devices that I have in drawers —- that while I have kept them in pristine condition —- are no longer supported. The same is true with websites, operating systems, and even cellphones.
If it won't interact with the rest of the world —- then we cannot be effective either. These are just tools for us to use.
I personally think the new website is fantastic —- and we will continue with the possible requested tweaks —- if they are good for the greatest amount of users.
Simple and accessible.
First time I learned to drive a stick shift —- it was an awkward starting experience. Then I got used to it —- realized the advantages —- and became a better driver.
Best, Fred

What for old dogs🤣🤣
Design obsolescence is what we have in today's Marketing and Tech world and it should NOT be that way .
You pay out the arse for a computing system back in the 70's that ran your entire office and business and had proven software you Knew all the bells and whistles to . Someone drops an anvil on your printer so go buy a new updated super dooper eco friendly, bio degradable , GENDER NEUTRAL,ETHNIC Friendly ,politically correct ,fuel efficient, easy payment plan that won't work with the stuff you paid out the ARSE for when it use to be software (the stuff that tells the stuff what to do and how ,when and where which USE to BE HAD TO BE backwards compatible .
AND it is ALL ECONOMICS.....which is a good thing THEY SAY whoever THEY is ....lol
You CAN TEACH and OLD DOG NEW TRICKS!
but whether he chooses to do them is at HIS LEISURE.
Throw the Cow over the Fence Some Hay is all I got's to Say
Yes you can teach a old dog new tricks , Problem is glasses and hearing aids .
There is a new business for you youngests to get into .............
I will say that I like the layout of threads better, but I don't like the new layout of the homepage or of the individual boards. I do all my reading and posting on my phone, so maybe it looks different to you guys. I do like Fred's take on the issue though.
And as a non-paying member who doesn't see ads, I can't really complain much.
Edit: I'm now discovering that when I turn my phone longways the homepage looks a lot more familiar.
Give a few days, we can add more themes and you guys can pick you own themes, put on some Richard Simmons shorts and tank top and we will all be awe.............................d

I could not have said it better.
That is only one example of so many others that do the same thing. We now have may software providers trying to charge you either in cash or advertising pain which comes close to extorsion. I still have OS's I paid for, Office software that no longer works. When you obtain the thing it is only half working, then they do all the "upgrades" for the user to make it function properly and after that the "upgrades" for them to improve their bottom line.....nothing to improve it for the consumer.
Are todays computers so much better then the ones I had during the 70's, I don't think so.
The system does create jobs and it Creates wealth
I've grown to like it. Pretty easy to navigate etc. Still no advertising or popups to have you chasing things all over your screen. Well done to all our administrators.
Ref new technology. We now have computers designing new computers and programs. Nowadays what used to be the unthinkable is commonplace. Development is so quick it can be obsolete before implementing. My life is pretty simple so I stay with what I'm happy with until I have to update. Don't need a PC or phone full of options I will never use.
Keep smilin'

"640K ought to be enough for anybody,"
Well Alan, we like it so you will just have to put up with it, cheers Don.
In our cyber-world —- with millions of devices and millions of programs —- constantly evolving, changing, and being not supported...it might be good to remember...
"All roads lead to Rome".
In another words —- for everything we want to do online or with one of our devices —- there are generally 20 or more ways to approach and do the job.
We just pick one that is comfortable to us, works for us —- and use it until it becomes out-dated.
Just like going to the grocery store for a box of cereal. There may be 500 kinds of cereal —- but we just buy what we want and enjoy eating. We don't buy all 500 types.
Best, Fred
