Alan,is there a Penn 66 that you can remove drag washers without taking reel apart. I seen this some where but don,t remember.

Yes, the very earliest Penn 66s allowed you to change out drag washers without complete disassembly. Those reels came with three leather or asbestos drag washers.

The 66 is identical to the 67 except that it has a narrow spool. You might want to review the 67 discussion that is going on too.

It's always a good idea to open the reel up when replacing the drags and check everything else.
