X2
I had to move out of the shop I rent last summer (heated 25x25 with office for $50 a month until it is rented by someone willing to pay $375) and when I moved back in 3 weeks later I left a lot of things where they should not be. The manufacture across the lane from my unit lets me work in a corner of his facility so the move is not far. Right now my reel bench has several of my reels disassembled and in ziplocks and my topshot building setup is in the way. You would think I would get tired of it and unpack but if the economy picks up I'll have to move again.

My 'man cave' is set up as Computer room, fishing gear, and Reel shop.
I have an extra folding 6' table I set up when I get to many reels for the bench, or Reels that need to be torn down and laid out for inspection prior to Parts or ???

Some treats of Yellow Fin Tuna & Mahi Mahi (Dorado) Shushi I made this summer... YUMMMY....

Working in the house has disadvantages, I cant/dont use volital or smelly stuff to clean or degrease with... But the advantages of not having a Warden or Parole officer (Im single) & the Computer handy is a big plus....

How do I get my work shop to look like a red X? :)
Now this is what a work bench is supposed to look like:

Notice how neat and coordinated it is despite my rod and reel collection hanging on the open doors and the reels in the drawers. ;D Dominick
I think you need to post the img code.. ???

I actually just re did mine. Will post pics later
All of you Alan Tani members that haven't figured out that I really was not posting pictures in my last two posts ( it looks like Sal caught on). I was just breaking chops by posting "red Xs." This is what my bench really looks like some of the time. Actually I'm just showing off some of the reels I own. When I get rid of the winter junk I have piled on the bench, I'll post some pictures of what it looks like when I neaten it up.

I wish I had a work bench. I didn't see one Newell, I'm disappointed.
Yo Bluefish you're tawking to a New Yawker and you don't have to look hard to know, I'm a Penn guy. Penn makes the best and they keep on ticking. Post a picture of a Newell, I don't know what they look like. I'll bet they copied the design from Penn. Dominick
Dominick,
NICE looking work bench.
John
Newell used to work for Penn. I have some of my Dad's Penn reels from the 40's till '69. They all work just fine. I am converting Penn Jig Master Jr to Newell by changing the gears.
Dominick nice reels. Do you have a better pic of the "Mack" reel. I can't really see it. ;) I'm willing to help with the winter clutter. Send em to me! ;D Bob

Nothing special, but here is mine. It was in the garage, but the garage lacked AC and surround sound so when wife went on a business trip it migrated to the bedroom!

Dominick, is that the 9/0 I sold you?? If so its in much better company there then when it was with my stuff here in NJ. Very nice collection.

Very nice and organized, Jason. Now, when wife gets home lets hope she doesn't move YOU into the garage. ;)
These are early pics....
My garage is a free standing 2400 sq ft building with a 16' X 16' tackle room...
I need to get some current pics since most of my work has picked up!

Bmitch,
Is that a digital theodolite I notice in the front left corner on your bench? I also noticed your DC power supplies and soldering goodies, what type of electronic's do you do? Have you ever fiddled with those digital control (aka DC) Shimano reels?
Good fishing and tinkering,
Leo
Leo, that what they call a Total Station. I run a survey instrument repair service. So when I get a chance to work on things that are only mechanical it's a treat. I have not had the chance to crack open a DC reel as of yet. That concept I really never got. I'll take an educated thumb any day, that only being said because I've never tried one of the digital control reels. Maybe someday.
Bob
I have my work area in a room in the basement, near the wood stove and TV so I'm warm and can have some football on while servicing reels during the winter. It is also the room where I have to put the things that the wife doesn't want upstairs !
Ok Lou, you win !!!
No wonder you stay downstairs most of the day. You should charge for guided tours of your dungeon !! :D :D -Ted
Come to Vancouver island and I'll give you a tour over a beverage. I have a mix of stuff from a WW 2 training bomb, traps, fighting chair, a few hides, a few skulls, a few sets of antlers, a knife collection and more fishing gear than I will ever use ............................ but you never know !! the kids call it the "dead zone" ........lol.
Wow! After looking at the pictures of some of you folks' "clean rooms", I'm not about to post any pictures of my work bench.
Tom
clean....naw. I actually had the worktop clear last night...
This is the main bench for 90% of the work --
Best,
Fred
Now, if you could see my bench more closely, you'll see labeled parts bins above and below, and the bench itself is work-in-progress Fred-style that I messed with this morning before work: 30 Int waiting stand in mail from Alan, 113H built from left overs from Cortez Conversions waiting parts in mail from Mo, 9/0 waiting spool in mail from Sid, 155 built from about four reels and some plates from Harry just waiting dog in mail from Mo, and a pair of S-Jiggy's (with pieces from Ted) just waiting clamp nuts in mail from Mo. All on lint free cloths on trays, per reel. Pad for Mo order next to laptop. All these folks lickety-split sending out stuff, serious PDQ style. Thanks Ohana! Once parts hit, I can clear the bench in less than an hour, and on to recent flea market 209, 9's, 112, 113 cleaned and bagged waiting assembly. Then back to rods....
Very nice gentleman.
Well, I guess I'll show mine:
