So I've been trying my hand at catching the elusive Coho from the Isle of Whidbey... Got about 5 keepers so far this season but the past week it just died with very little getting caught from the beaches.
Anyhoo, I gave tonight another go... and arrived on the beach around 5:40pm. AND NOTHING.... No bites, no jumpers, no swirls... nuthin...
Until about 6:45pm this bruiser decided to slam my jig...
15min of epic runs later, she was tired and starting to go belly up.
At least 18lb king salmon... + one adipose fin.
So after a few mins of fish CPR in the surf (I use that term loosely) (and a photo op), she swam off to fight again another day.
Thats a Beauty and I bet it was a Heart Thumper playing with that Rig you got there.
Nice fish on light tackle!
Nice fish!!!
Yeah, nice Silvery lookin King. Good on ya, lettin the wild one go. I know, yer supposed to, but I've seen too many guys get a wild Salmonid, then quickly toss it in the cooler, stop fishin and head home.
