Title: opinions wanted please
Post by: Hytekrednek on May 09, 2023, 07:37:17 PM
Hello. I am considering buying a ABU GARCIA AMBASSADEUR PRO MAX 1600. It is in good condition. I had a similar reel when I was a kid, a Black Max. From what I recall, it was a good reel. It caught me fish, so I liked it.  Anyway, what is the reputation on these reels? Opinions? weak areas?  I do like the extra fast worm gear that crosses the line over itself, preventing dig-in. Really helpful for braid. I also like its one piece aluminum frame, and its small size. Thanks for your time and opinions on this reel, its design, and its longevity.

The finish wasn't very durable. I have a 6600. GREAT reel- they retailed for 199.00 in the early 90's, except the painted finish wasn't durable. Still have it and a 5600.

You're gonna love that little reel! I have a couple of the 3600 size (the 1600s are just too small for my gorilla hands) and they are very smooth and tough little reels.
