Title: Penn Jigmaster side plate vs. Sharpie ?
Post by: cdaline on June 05, 2023, 08:56:21 PM
Team Tani .... Picked up a
reasonable condition vintage
# 500 Jigmaster that the
seller thought would be
a good idea to write (in
Bold print) the price with
a wide tip Sharpie ( both
Side plates ) . I have
tried WD40 and Goof-Off with
some success but the ghosting
is still visible.
I'm sure none here would
ever do this but thought you
might have some suggestions.
Thanks.  :fish

maybe try a scrub with a greasy tooth brush then wipe clean.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will get 99% off quickly —- if not 100%.

I was surprized a couple of days back, a mate placed some sharpy on a rod that we were working on, well I tried to remove it with Turps, without any luck, then when I was doing the epoxy work, I wanted to remove some medical tape I had on it so I use a bit of rag dipped into metholated spirits, and the sharpy came of with it, good luck cheers Don.

Denatured alcohol is a solvent for Sharpie ink.

Fellas .... Thanks for the
recommendations... you can
add acetone to the fail
list .. bride let me bor-
row some of her nail
polish remover. Glad to
read all the success folks
have had .... All the remains
Of the initial artwork is
The "ghosting shadow".

I collect disc golf discs/frisbees and people use sharpies to put their name and numbers on them. I have noticed the ghost shadows tend to fade when I leave them out in the sun for a couple of days.
