OK i expect we are all guilty of the odd bodge job in the past.
The thing is that there are 2 ways to look at a bodge job
1/ downright dangerous and a waste of time
2/ an alternative way of fixing a problem with good results
one bodge i have done a few times is to substitute the small metal dog springs
i have used zippo lighter springs that i have cut to size and actually find them better and stronger than original. the secret is getting the length correct.
I have also used rig springs although these are slightly smaller and weaker but still work.
What bodges have you done in the past that work?
Bic lighter springs are the perfect size for old 600-series Mitchells.
I have a few sticks of spring wire laying around for when I need to rig something up. It's not a common need for me. But it's really nice to have on hand.
