Title: Thommen Record Reels. History and parts
Post by: Fishgolfman on November 05, 2023, 04:45:38 PM
Another pile of record reels. A 500 needing handle, spool . A 400 series needing handles. Misc records needing handle.
Question on record reels no anti reverse system? Correct?

Yes, they all have an anti reverse.

Look at this tutorial https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,21213.0.html

Even though they're ABU Record reels they are basically similar as most Swiss Record reels because at that time Record made them for ABU.

Outstanding link. I was able to disassemble the two reels into parts and clean.Vintage C. SIEGRIST Zurich Switzerland RECORD Spinning Fishing Reel Half Bail And modified bail.  Seems like all the parts there except a thin bent washer on handle under knob. In your tutorial not there. Will see how well it will work

Fixed. Two Record Reels based on Tommy advice. Now need parts for a 500(spool and handle). Have 4-400 just need handles. Lots of extra spools. Both reels fully functional with anti reverse. Note bail differences. One may be an aftermarket modification to make it a PUM type

Yes. Freshwater for bass! I am going to put a light 10lb braid in the metal spools. 6lb mono in plastic spools.
