Post by: retiredandfishing on November 24, 2023, 01:45:08 AM
Has anyone used this bearing puller?  https://www.bocabearings.com/products/miniature-bearing-puller-full-i0002722

Looking for a good puller and came up this one.

Thanks, Steve

Found an older post on this.  Not a good review.  Indicates the sizing is not right for some bearings.  https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,34268.0.html

It seems that most of the successful ones are of the "homegrown" variety.  Grinding down the head of an appropriate sized nail into a half moon, these really cool gizmos https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,34478.0.html, or sets (I cannot seem to find the post right now for who makes them) of industrial cotter keys in multiple sizes that have been ground with "grip lips", there are many ways to "skin the cat" so to speak and these are just a few of them. - john

I was the one that had the Boca set, it didn't work out for me.  Additionally, the tool in general wasn't the greatest quality overall.  The vibe I got from it is Harbor Freight probably could sell it for $29.99.  Now a good bearing puller, look at the Bearing Bad tool, that is well worth it and works like a charm.  If you want to order a set, you have to email Ernie at bearingbadtool@gmail.com.  He also has a nifty looking spool pin tool but I didn't need it as I have Reel Speed pliers and a SLP bearing pin tool for Daiwa reels.  If I remember right, the Bearing Bad set runs $35 shipped.
