Title: penn 990 or penn 980
Post by: Jayden on January 18, 2024, 03:24:28 AM
Thinking about getting a penn 990 or penn 980 to pair with a old school magnuflex blank for surf casting, do they make steel guts for this reel or does it come with them , and which one cast better, and how large is the 990? Also, do those reels take standard aftermarket handles for the penn 4/0 senator and how are the stock drags and what would yall recommend me spool it with, braid with mono topshot or straight mono?

Not that much of a difference the spool has a wider diameter.

The gear sleeve for this series is a 98-320 and is sold by Mystic Penn Parts in the stainless steel version. It fits the 113H size handle.
