Let me start by saying that I am a super fan of okuma for various reasons. First of all, the quality of its products achieved over the years thanks to progressive commitment. My makaria are perfect in all sizes, the very recent ones updated with the new longer cranks and the optional possibility of inserting a TDC CAM were the icing on the cake. I would like to suggest that Okuma create custom Sideplates with various silkscreens of fish species. Maybe just for a specific color, like silver or gunmetal. Example Swordfish; Grouper; Mako; Amberjack; Marlin etc... it would be crazy cool to be able to change the decoration of the reel every now and then. :ct :D
the side plate alone would actually be pretty easy to reverse engineer. then it could be engraved and anodized to your specifications. it's just the first one that's expensive!!!
I would love to have my makaira 50 sea with a nice broadbill swordfish screen print... and not a yellowfin tuna. :al
