Title: 113H Free Spool Glitch
Post by: Cuttyhunker on June 05, 2024, 10:38:34 AM
I have a glitch with a 113H that I have run across before and am looking for suggestions.  When in free spool, eccentric lever back the pinion is still in contact with the spool by only a thousandth os so.  Faint clicking when spool spins and spool will rotate when handle cranked.  Backing off tailplane bearing a tad, pressure in tailplane side of spool, fixed, pressure on head plate side.....tick tick tick.  Jack not worn, yoke not warped.  Could I cheat the yoke with a little bend?  Reel is part of a large lot from a charter boat, so it worked hard in the past. Should I be looking elsewhere into the internals? Thanks.

Bend the tabs on the jack plate a bit.

Thank you gents, both good and overlooked (by me) ideas.

Joe this is an all bearing reel so no adjustment on the headplate, but expanding on that perhaps a little slug or spacer inside the bearing or bushing may be worth a try, Keta I did take an old 113 jack from the pile, put it upside down in the vice and tapped the legs a few times with a 1 x 1 x  3 brass block I use as a drift.  That gave me the few thousndths I needed, all finast kind now.  While I never tried the idea of bending the yoke, I think playing with the jack is better
Thank You Both Again :d .

I do believe there is shims that go in between the bearing and the end cup to shim the bearing out.
