Title: 300X series line rollers?
Post by: PhillyJoe on June 08, 2024, 08:12:36 PM
H'mm got a 3000 and a 3002 on the bench ready to hose down and refurbish. It seems that the line rollers are different material. The 3000 roller has a matte grayish surface, which I assume to be tungsten carbide, and this matches some N series reels that I also have in front of me

The 3002 roller looks to be merely chrome plated (SS?), much more bright and shiny. I haven't seen any factory literature detailing these materials but the pre-3002s look better to my untutored eye, especially If I load them up with braid.

I attached a pic of these line rollers but the finish differences are much more apparent in person. 3000 left, 3002 right.

I'm sure Fred will know more but he is currently touring the places I escaped from... DC-- lived twice five years each time in the Belly of the Beast, Old Town Alexandria where I lived in the 80s and catfished the Potomac, And Williamsburg, VA where I went to grad school for Historical Archaeology at William and Mary.

Do miss some of the fishin' down in the Chesapeake though.

Yes ,series 00 ,01 have tungsten carbide line roller with aluminum spool while 3002 have ss line roller and graphite spool . Series 01 is best to me
