Title: Floating Dock Game Changer(2.5 Suzuki)
Post by: jgp12000 on June 11, 2024, 04:28:59 PM
My 55# thrust trolling motor bit the dust for the 2nd time. So while I am troubleshooting it, my redneck ingenuity kicked in ???  I fabricated a 2x6 jack plate, this little 2.5hp moves the 800lb floating dock pretty good !!!. I bought this 2.5 Suzuki last year from onlineoutboards.com for the Jon boat. The 2.5 is 29lbs compared to the TM 24 size battery(44lb) not counting the TM weight. Just the weight saving alone is a plus. I suppose I will be pulling the 3 grand children around the pond soon.

Nice! A portable dock, swimming/fishing platform, place grill and drink.

My trolling motor issues have both been propellor shaft seal leakage. I guess saltwater is harder on the rubber than freshwater. Someone suggested I clean and lube the seals with non-petroleum grease...? What would that be? Anyone know?

Gregg, that is exactly what the tech said was the issue on the 1st warranty repair(leaky seal).I keep it out of the water when moored. This 2.5 has a 15" shaft, if I had to do it over  I would get the 20" shaft for this application.
