Title: Penn 430ss bail
Post by: L Fowler on July 30, 2024, 03:09:27 PM
Trying to find out if a Penn 430ss bail wire 24-430 is the same as a 420ss bail wire. I can't see any difference.

The difference between the two bail wires is 1/8".

Hard to see until a measuring device is used.

You can make a 430 bail wire work on a 420 by slightly bending the wire —- but a 420 bail wire will not expand enough on a 430 to clear the spool drag nut at full upward spool extension.

So...the proper bail should go on each reel, since the rotors and spools are a different size.

Best, Fred
