Hi does anybody know what drag washers I need for my older 9/0 Senator reel. I believe it's a 1970s, it has the white handle. Thanks

I think they are HT100s. In what I have searched online
Are you replacing them or are you just curious? If replacing them call Smoooth Drag and ask Dawn.
You can get these from mysticparts.com

Or replace the whole stack

Your 9/0 may have the old thick asbestos drag washers, and the slots in the main gear may not be deep enough for the new thinner drag washers. I'm no good at posting links, but there has been threads here that discuss how to fix that issue. Maybe Lee or Bill, or brewcrafter John, or Thorhammer John can post up the link

Yes, I'd like to replace them. I'm sure they are old etc

Thanks, Question - on your recent posting, If the new washers are thinner than the original washers, why wouldn't it fit. I'm confused. Are the asbestos washers thinner than the newer ones?
This is the reel I had purchased recently on ebay. Can anyone advise if this is the older model, and what is the drag set a 5 or 3?

If memory serves the thinner drags don't fit because the "ear grooves" on the inside of the main gear don't go all the way to the bottom, because they were designed around the thicker old washers. so the lowest eared washer will bottom out before making contact with the rest of the stack.
HT100/Carbontex (CF) washers are thinner. To solve the "problem" Jason pointed out put 2 CF washers under the first metal washer then build the stack like normal. You will be able to put more washers in the stack alternating keyed eared metal like the rest of the stack.
$71, great price for a USA made 9/0. Recommend tossing the old asbestos washers if that's what is in there and building up the drag with carbon fiber. You will see when you take it apart, then we can chime-in.
As Bill suggested, since the reel is a "user" just go with the complete kit that includes that stainless metals and new CF. And if you do not have it in your tool kit already, purchase some drag grease , your CFs will thank you for it (there is a whole thread on this topic in the lubricants section - good read if you are just starting out or suffer from insomnia). IF there is a problem with the ear notches not going deep enough, the fix is easy as Lee pointed out. Depending where you are geographically, both Smoothdrag (West Coast) and Mystic (East Coast) can supply you with complete kits with the metals, they both are great, reliable suppliers. While there is not a lot to go wrong with one of these animals beyond the drags, might as well give it the once over in case you need anything else (stripped/rounded screw heads, etc) prior to ordering. - john
And grease the screws before putting them back.
The old drag is a 3 stack. The upgrade is a 5 stack drag.
If you look around, there is tutorials on a full overhaul in the Senator Section.
I also have the insert kits if you wanna go to the dura-drag style setup.
You can cut the grooves in the main gear deeper, with a dremmel, good luck, leave some fish for us, cheers Don.
Thanks everyone.
