Got two Abu's in the shop I'm not familiar with. An E5600 and an E6601. I've never been into either one before nor even seen either one. Plastic bodies. Wondering if anyone has experience with servicing and repairing these reels. I have not gone into them yet.
Thanks, Steve
ABU/Garcia made specific reels for Wal-Mart.
These had a lot of plastic parts and were not the quality of the Swedish ABU's.
These are a little less expensive, and sometimes tougher to get some of the specific parts for. But if no parts are needed —- they are very similar to the original round baitcasters to service.
Not sure if this is what you have, or not.
Best, Fred
If they are ABU Eon reels, they are a bit different to most reels with some interesting features. Steve (OC1) did a breakdown on one a few years ago here https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,31505.msg368331.html#msg368331 (https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,31505.msg368331.html#msg368331) Steve's text is still there but I can't see the photos now.
And someone posted this EON Link (https://www.realsreels.com/servicing/Ambassadeur5600Eon%20Service.pdf) to a service tutorial on Real's Reels site.
I had a less than successful dabble with one years ago before joining this site.

Sorry Mike. The photos are lost and gone forever.
Here's a E5600 schematic with the planetary gears..

They aren't that difficult. E6600 was one I picked up super nasty for five bucks. Opened it and there were dead baby roaches inside the reel! Threw the whole thing in simple green for a week. Came out nice after full dissassembly and service.

Yes this tutorial is about the same reels I have in the shop. Thank you for posting this. This is what I was hoping for. Don't know why but in just looking at them I sensed they might be a bit our of the ordinary.
Thanks again, Steve
