I picked up an Ocean City 112 at an estate sale today. I can't get the spool off. I took the right side plate off, and the spool comes off with it, and won't come off. There is some rust in the right side bushing, I can see it with the handle and bushing off. The narrow end of the spool shaft spins, but I can't pull it off of the assembled right side plate. I have it sitting with oil on it. Any ideas?
I got into the Ocean City reels early this Summer when I found one at a flea market. I bought a couple more online. I was about to pull the trigger on a 112 on Ebay this week. My wife and I spent the day today at a flea market, an antique mall, and an estate sale. I got the 112 very cheap!
It sounds like the spool shaft is stuck to the pinion gear. Could you take it into and out of gear before disassembly? I assume not. Will the knock-down clutch lever even move? If not, is it stuck in the up or down position? Working the clutch lever up and down may put a little pressure on the pinion gear and help free it while soaking.

If it is really stuck
Concentrate on #50 and 49b . Loosen screws and push the screw to remove the post from it`s socket.
That will help free up the yoak and slip the pinion and pinion clutch with the spool out.
