Just signed up for a full day trip on the Endeavor on Sunday Nov 10th! This group has done a fall trip around these dates the last few years so i figured I'd jump start the discussion by just deciding the date and making a reservation.... as Wayne says "if someone plans it, they will come"! I'm not sure who's around or if the clubhouse will be available but WHO WANTS TO GO FISHING?!?!
Alexis and I will be spending the weekend in Morro Bay and she'll spend Sunday Christmas shopping while I/we fish....
So who's in ??????

just another way to squeeze a little more money out of people. other than to stop fishing, there is nothing else you can do. it's like having people going out to dinner less because of the prices. maybe they'll get the message, maybe they won't. maybe they'll stay in business, maybe they won't. hard call all the way around :-\
I'm in (if it's going to blow <15 kts).

The Boss has reserved the Clubhouse for the weekend so I'd assume a big dinner and story time will happen the night before....
Still plenty of spots open on the trip and the clubhouse will be open for dinners and drinks! Sign up and come catch some big reds and lingcod!!!!

Ya, we don't want a non-member winning the pot this year!
Alexis and I booked our room at https://www.blufftopinn.com/ for the weekend. It'll end up being a 1/4 mile walk to the landing the morning of the trip.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in a month!!!!
Still 20 spots open on the trip! Sign up and come fishing with us
I probably can't this year but I would love to come next year. Sounds like a great trip!
Still lots of spots open on the trip if anyone wants to join us!!!!

And then there were 6 .
PJ thank you my brother for setting this up !

The trip is one month away!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone.
I hope a few more people sign up as there's still plenty of openings.
The City of Morro Bay voted on, and passed a "parcel tax" (B-22) for Harbor construction and rehab. in '22. Supposed to be a flat tax of $120. Could it be that City residents are passing it on to port users?
PJ,
I "may" have a friend, nonmember, that is thinking of going.
Shall I tell him to book if and when he's ready?

Sorry, been a dodger fan my whole life. Looking pretty good, but it was against the padres

Randy has been inviting me on this trip for years but I haven't been able to make it. This year, I threw my name in the hat. I am looking forward to meeting some of the Tani members in person. Anyone interested in vintage tackle is more than welcome to stop by our home in Shell Beach to see my collection. We live just off the 101, so it would be a very easy and quick side-trip if you are driving to Morro Bay on Friday.
You could also check out the book I just published on the history of Arthur Kovalovsky, his family, and all their beautiful reels. Many of the reels pictured in the book are in my collection, so you can spin a few Kov' crank handles and see first-hand what all the fuss is about!
Cheers,
John

16 spots left so call up your friends and tell them to come fishing with us
All as a show of honor and respect for our guy Bryan Young I suggest we all wear Hawaiin shirts on our trip!
Great idea. A flower lei is often tossed into the ocean to honor the deceased. It can be whole or broken apart. That might be hard to find on the mainland, though.
The trip is about a week away and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. I'm getting my gear ready as I'll be in Boise all next week.
Oops. We're fishing 300 feet or more. Gotta charge up the batteries!!!
the winds die down in the morning, then pick up in the afternoon. it should be great fishing!!!
Tracy Wong is going to join us!!!! one spot left.
Damn, Mary was planning on taking the train north to see our new granddaughter today but she had to put it off for a week. I could have gone and then helped Alan sort and move Bryan's things.
Have a safe and productive trip.

See ya'all Sunday,
Steve
Alan ,
What time are you going to make it to the clubhouse ?
About 3pm. If you get there early, I can get you a key!
Actually that should be just about perfect!
I'll see you then Boss :fish
Sounds like a good trip to do a little slow pitch jigging. Will you guys be fishing Cape San Martin area or Jurrasic park?
Unfortunately I won't be able to go tomorrow, I twisted my ankle yesterday and I'll be laying low for a few days. Have a fun trip!
Crud, Sheridan. Get well soon!!!

It's going to be 300 feet. No telling where we will wind up.
Here's a photo of our gang, courtesy of Joel, the owner of Stoopid Baits.
The weather, fishing and company couldn't have been better.
What a homely bunch of pirates. Wish I could have been there to add some real ugly.
Good thing the photographer had a special filter ... ;0)

Nah, you'd need Peaches for that!
Looks like you all had great fishing weather....and of course the fish whisperer(Randy Pauly) was at it again
Incredible conditions and really nice Ling!!!! - john
It was a great trip and the fishing was amazing! We had limits of big chillipeppers and reds by 1030am. Randy caught the only lingcod and it was a beauty! The weather was perfect and it was flat calm.

Nice trip, lads!
I put Alan's grips on our Tanacoms too. Great upgrade. Lil wimpy stock knob on deepdrop gear we use for big offshore grouper...
The stock Tanacom knobs really do suck, mine has been upgraded too.
Not much to add.
Perfect conditions, great company, and awesome fishing.
My Tanacom worked great. First drop was 509', the second was 529'! The rest of the day ranged between 300-400.
Randy pulled up a huge Ling and won the pool!
We had a little memorial for Bryan up on the bow on the way in. Nice things were said, Alan shared some good Burbon, and then we threw flowers into the ocean in the Hawaiian tradition.
Perfect ending to a perfect day!
Steve
We missed you Sheridan.
Get well soon.
Sorry I missed it, looked about perfect. Nice ling Randy!!!
it was an awesome trip. we were scheduled for a 10 hour trip, but we limited out in, what, maybe 2 hours? all big chili peppers, a few big vermillion, and one ling cod that randy pauly caught.
Quote from: Swami805 on November 11, 2024, 06:22:38 PMSorry I missed it, looked about perfect. Nice ling Randy!!!
We really missed you Sheridan. It was as close to perfect a trip as it could have been, with great company, beautiful weather, and a send off that Bryan would have loved.
You need to get up here the next time that there's a good weather window and the Endeavor has a 10 or 12 hour trip scheduled.
We loaded up on the biggest chilis that I have ever seen. They were suspended way off of the bottom and the whole boat was almost limited in an hour and a half when we moved to some structure to try to fill out on reds, and the boat was limited out in less than a half hour.
I was only able to get in three drops for big fish with the trap rig and was instantly bit every time with a jumbo baccacio, a San Miguel size red and the nice ling.
We might have had a good score on big lings in this virgin water if we had been able to spend more time on the structure, but it would have been crazy to leave the wide open bite on the big chilis.
I think that the Endeavor is doing a great job exploring the deep water, and he is finding good new areas closer to home. We were less than twenty miles from port so there was much less travel time than expected.
I love chilies so good to eat. I'll holler when I can come up there

Pj, I got into slow pitch 2 years ago. It can be very effective and rewarding on the larger rockfish and yellowtails. Tight lines! :d :fish
I'm famous!
Look who was on the Stoopid Baits Facebook website.
www.stoopidbaits.com
The guy who owns the company, Joel, was on the boat with us Sunday handing out his weighted tube bait creations. I fished all day with his 1/2 ounce tubes (like a shrimp fly rig) as did many others. I don't know if they outperformed the fly's but I was impressed and bought more at the landing.

thanks for sharing guys, it looks like great day to be on the water and nice company with that bunch of reelheads :fish
The 6oz Hookup baits really crush the huge rockfish and you can fish double with a Owner three way swivel.
