Greetings all,
I just picked up a couple of brake collars for a Daiwa SL30SH reel. There were two different part numbers, for what looked like two differently sized brakes. I ended up ordering both part numbers in the event that they are used for different degrees of braking. Sadly, one of the part numbers, or at least what was sent by the seller, does not fit the reel. And the non-fitting collar is quite a bit smaller than the other part number when the parts blowup shows it should be significantly larger. Even the ID on it is tiny, as if it was made for a fresh water setup or something.
So my question is, does Daiwa use the same parts number designations for different reels? I know that with mechanical watch parts, one generally must give the movement number as well as the generic part number. If the number B35-2901 was used for different reels, it would be numbered as something like, Daiwa 30H B35-2901. And for the Slosh it would be SL20SH B35-2901, etc. Any input is appreciated. Cheers.
if it's the same part in different reels, it will have the same part number. that much does not change. the problem part could have simply been mislabeled. :-\
Thanks, @AlanTani. I'll verify the dimensions of the bad fit, and see about returning the parts. At least one of the sets worked out. And that might be enough. Cheers.
Update: While the parts definitely looked too small, ID, lenghth, and OD, they did fit on the brake arm. While they may not be factory correct, they should work to some extent. These just look like hollow Delrin rod that has a ~1.1mm ID, which works on the 1mm rod. I don't have the factory L and OD dimensions. Nor do I have a user manual that might help with knowing how to use the brake system properly. It would be nice to see one of those. Interesting.
