Hello all, new user here.
Have a mystery I could use help solving.
I took my Ocea Jigger out of storage yesterday, to star getting my blackfish gear ready for the upcoming season here, in the Northeast. I took a couple turns of the handle and had a heard gears grinding. I was surprised to hear this as I've only used the reel 3 times. I opened the reel up to see what the issue could be and when I removed the set plate, a loose click pin fell out. Looking at the schematic, I see there are only two click pins in the reel. One in the star drag, allowing for the click when adjusting the drag, the other is in the drag washer stack, allowing for the the drag to click when pulled. Both click pins are in place. Would anyone have an idea where this pin belongs?
Appreciate any assistance.
John
every once in a while you will hear of a surgeon that leaves a clamp in a patient's abdomen by accident. maybe you just got a bonus part. :-\
It appears that way. Thinking that may have been what was causing the grinding I experienced? I'm just surprised the issue didn't occur sooner.
At least it didn't get stuck between the gears and break off some teeth. I had that happen with the starter and flywheel in an old car.
That must be one of the pins that flew out of some of the reels I have worked on.... ;D
I hate those lil click pins. About half the reels I own that came with one still have it. They get lost and I don't chase them.
