Title: Oregon Inlet Wahoo Soon
Post by: JoePlo on September 18, 2024, 11:32:46 PM
Not a report but got the itch. Been far too long poking around and posting in here. Hope next weather window to chase some wahoo out of Oregon inlet. Seeing if there are any lurkers who would like to join. I run a 25' Stiegercraft with a single mercury 225. Choose my days carefully and will go middle of the week if it's nice. I live in Williamsburg VA and drag boat down night before and usually camp across the street at the campground. Interested message me at inspectojo@aol.com

How do you like to target them - doing the high speed thing, at normal trolling speed with ballyhoo etc, or live bait?  What sort of depth range/type of structure would you normally fish and what would be the main clues you'd be looking for - bait balls and so on?

I haven't caught one for a couple of years, but they are fantastic when you can target them.

Here's my pb Wahoo (63 lbs) caught at Alijos Rocks on the SoA 10 day last year, Joe. Only 2500 miles SW of Oregon Inlet. I might join you again for the YFT this year.
