So I might just be looking for something I don't even need as the reel was my limited factor but that has been rectified. I am looking for a rod for grouper fishing. I'm not talking about rod for a 30in fish, I need something for those fish that turn and get you to the rocks leaving you questioning your manhood. It'll be standup but I'm not afraid to put it on the rail.
I am currently running an XH Okuma Cedros. This honestly may be enough. It's strong, it won't break, and it has a quality reel seat. Am I splitting hairs wanting something more? It'll be matched with a Makaira 20SEa.
Is your current Okuma rod the 8' 65-200 pound CJ-C-561XH?
If so do you need or prefer a 8' rod?
Okuma 7'4" 80-100 PCH-C-741XXXH
Penn Carnage West Coast
7' 80-150 CARWCIII80150C70
I have a liter Penn Carnage West Coast 7' 80-130 CARWCIII80130C70 that I like.
CALSTAR GF760H (graphiter) 80-130 a big gun for the big boys, thats my grouper fishing rod, I never target a monster fish, tho.
good thing its not that heavy so I can use it to catch home guards YT

It's the 6 foot heavy Cedros.
OK.
I've got big ones on my UC Viper 76/Mak 20 SEa with a 20/0 circle hook!
