I am an android guy but my newest tablet likes to finish my searches or typing with other words not make me for example, not updating ne (I just typed "not mine"before this) .I am not sure if it's the tablet or chrome.I have checked all the Auto complete/fill options I can find, any ideas?
Yeah I love it when I type a real word and it changes it to a different word that doesn't make any sense in context. Not sure how to help though.
It's just dumb a $$ computer programs that think they're smarter than you trying to run your life. >:D Get used to it, it's a sign of the times. >:(

sorry that not helped any, but if you already searched on autofill, auto-complete, I dont see more options to search
imagine what would the computers do in few years, the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2024, "used tools from physics to construct methods that helped lay the foundation for today's powerful machine learning". although Computers cannot think, machines can now mimic functions such as memory and learning. This year's laureates in physics have helped make this possible.

There is a autofill for password management that is controlled by android itself. That will be somewhere under settings in the password management settings.
Autocomplete on the web browser is managed in the settings that you manage inside of the browser app. Other web-connected apps may also have their own autofill/autocomplete configuration.
I don't use Chrome for privacy reasons, but last I heard, Chrome is the only browser that does not let you turn off autocomplete. Scouring what you type in is valuable data for them.
There are several other browsers (and search engines) that IMHO provide better performance, a better user experience, and better privacy than the Google products. My personal favorite at this point is the Brave browser configured to use DuckDuckGo for the default search engine. Firefox and DuckDuckGo also are more privacy oriented browsers. Each has their own tradeoffs. I am not currently using Android, so can't provide an exact recommendation.
You can install a new browser app without getting rid of Chrome, and use both. I find it is useful to try again on one of the big-name browsers if something funky is happening- usually filling out web forms for some sort of transaction, but this is not very common.
Good luck.

Thanks guys, I will try the suggested browsers. The last few weeks, I started getting robocalls 2-3 times/day to buy my land relentless, I guess a robocall would never give up ::) . I blocked them, but it just peeves me to even see it blocked & that I had to. While I am on my soapbox, if you are a UPS supervisor/member on here that speaks intelligible English please PM me ASAP! >:( Long painful story...
They have given some people Nobel prizes for doing absolutely nothing, except being idiots :fish
I also like to use Brave browser for over 10 years ,hate to search something then getting all kind of ad .The best is watching youtube with no advertising
I just installed duckduckgo app,it's fast, & let me know who was trying to track me :o
I just did a quick reply on here with duckduckgo,James autocomplete.I typed "same" before autocomplete not "James",it did it just now?

+1 for Brave here too.
QT, how much do pay for no-ad utube?
Otto is a asshole.
I use Firefox & Duck-Duck Go on my apple devices (iPad, iPhone, MacBook Air.
If you are not using Chrome, it is easy to go into settings and disable autocomplete on most other browsers.
This is true with Android devices also (I used Android stuff exclusively until I switched to Apple about 10 years ago).
For privacy email concerns, I use GMX (German Mail Exchange).
It is a free download, and the reason I use it is that Germany is possibly the most privacy aware country in the world —- and the companies based there, and others who might do business there —- are required by law to uphold a much higher standard when it comes to privacy.
I use Yahoo Mail when I don't want to give out my GMX address.
Best, Fred
It doesn't appear to be the browser it did it on duck as well

You pay nothing , just install Brave browser . It's free .It blocks most advertising only few movies that say free with ads , don't click these , it will feed something that make add block don't work no more then you have to reinstall Brave again
Check the keyboard/input settings. On tablets Autocomplete/"Typing Suggestions" are usually in there.
EDIT:
Try....
Settings
Language and Input (may be called Language and Keyboard)
Tap on the Keyboard that's there... name may vary by manufacturer, for example my Samsung says Samsung Keyboard Settings
Uncheck "Predictive text"
Did you try to configure it?
I don't have Android handy, but just tried it on a couple other platforms.
Looks like it varies by platform for DuckDuckgo. I can turn it on/off on IOS (IPad/Iphone) by starting the app and going into Settings>Private Search>Search Suggestions.
On Windows, if I first do a search and then go to the search settings, there is an option to turn off search suggestions, but it only affects the search bar and not the browser address bar. And there doesn't appear to be a browser address bar setting to control search suggestion on Windows for Duckduckgo- arrgh. This is a defect, as far as I am concerned.
Depending on which app and which search engine, you need to turn it off in both the browser and the search engine.
Kind of sucky, but that is how this stuff works.
