Title: Bodega Bay Tragedy
Post by: Crab Pot on November 05, 2024, 05:21:10 AM
Don't know if any of the local members heard about the tragedy off the Salmon Creek area north of Bodeaga Bay on Saturday.

Three adults and three minors got flipped while crabbing in rough conditions.

40mph winds and 14'seas. What was the owner of that boat thinking?

One minor known dead, one minor made it to shore on an ice chest. Four unaccounted for. The Coast Guard called off the search Sunday, don't know if they resumed today.

So unnecessary.

Thoughts and prayers for the families.

Looks like there was another incident as well! One Saturday and then one earlier today.

2nd boat had 2 passengers 21' boat in the same area as the first, both were out of Bodega. 8 people in all on the two boats and only one 11year old boy found alive.
all I can think is they must not have had any friends who were experienced boaters, because nobody should have been on the water during those conditions.  An experienced friend would have warned them off.  Truly a tragedy from the first moment they decided to go.
