Title: removing a pressed on Idler gear on an abu reel
Post by: retiredandfishing on November 15, 2024, 04:55:49 AM
I have an ABu 5500LC in the shop.  It has an idler gear that is pressed on to it's post.  Anyone have any procedures they use to remove that gear without damaging it?

Thanks, Steve

i've used a braid loop underneath, coming out at opposite ends, to pull the gear off.

Thanks Alan.  So take some braided line loop around the post at the bottom of the gear, pull each end of the line up evenly.  If I have this right I'll try it today.
