Title: Daiwa asa 2055 spool shaft removal
Post by: Gregory on December 01, 2024, 12:49:24 AM
Hi
I can't post a picture sorry
I am endeavouring to clean and service a daiwa asa 2055
there are two little clips holding the spool shaft in the rotor near the rear drag
How do you get them off without breaking them, any idea please
Thanks
Greg

If you are talking about the retainer clip that holds the oscillation block to the main shaft you just carefully pry it off. It's not two clips, the retainer is one piece with clips on each side and a piece between them that holds oscillation block on place.

As luck would have it I'm cleaning up a SKA 2055 . Those clips aren't circlips but more like horseshoes. There's nothing to pry up on. I've found it's easier to get it with the ends up and just hold one end with a small screwdriver and push down on the other with another small screwdriver.

They do make a tool for removing clips , and they are pricey .  I use security bits and home made clip removers.        https://www.harborfreight.com/security-bit-set-33-piece-68459.html

A notch cut out of a old screwdriver works also.

Pretty sharp! I'm going to have to make one of those.
