I picked up the Fishermans Choice 80-130 rod in a lot deal, AFTCO #47 Stripper and #26 Tip top. The tip swivels about 160 degrees and comes to a firm stop. New to me, is this by design or just broken?
not broken but unglued.
you need to take it out and put some guide tip glue or epoxy glue and keep it straight
if it swivels both ways, by design. swivel tips nowadays have a dropped guide. These are great for planer boards or other things fished in a gunwhale holder.

I use them on long leader and deep drop rods, they are not cheep.
Alex brought up a point, tho: do make sure it's not just loose and rotates until it hits some old glue. Hard to see from your pic. If in fact the sleeve is fixed in place and just the head swivels, then as Keta said (correctly), they aren't cheap. All of our planer and deep drop rods have them. The small Aftco swivel tips start about $70 bucks, just for the tip.
Google "alps swivel tip top", They are a bit cheaper. I like them a lot.
Maybe it would reduce twisting torque on the blank.
Thank You Gent's, I had thought it might be for fighting a big fish from a non swiveling rod holder, now to my other questions.
The tip is wrapped with tape as both roller bolts are missing, I've also been Cannibalizing some of my tackle box AFTCO's rollers to keep other rods going, is there a source to replace those little suckers?
Another odd feature, to me, on this rod is the aluminum butt. It seems to be solid which I have seen before on older rods but what surprised me is that it is permanently fixed to the rod, being a non removable butt.
Fixed butt happened in older rods and I think there some still made. Seems like Captain Harry's had Aftco replacement rollers at one time. If not, send me some measurements and I may have something serviceable to replace...better than tape, lol!
I have some old Aftco's laying around with crappy chrome, but screws, rollers and bushes may still be ok. Gary the Buttman sent me some for parts a few years back.

Just mainly looking for the small bolts that go into the bushing. This 26 tip top looks to use larger bolts than say a 16 roller tip. Let me see if the 47 stripper bolts work on the 26 tip, if so I'll mic them and let you know. When I get back up to New England next month I can let you know if I'm in need of other rollers and bushings

Jason, what I am looking for are the 2 part axles, threaded male and female, that go inside the bushing with the slotted screws on the outside of the AFTCO roller frame, sizes 16 tip top and the larger 26 swivel tip
