Just pull out 2 reels from storage box that I left in attic more than 20 years ago when just move to Houston .One is Dam 221 that I use very often in Illinois ,but notice it have no S letter that should be for higher speed 221 .Another one is Zebco 4 ,I don't remember I have this reel ,have some scratch but seem working condition .Most people call it Cardinal 4 but this is Zebco may be just like Mitchell reel sell by Garcia
Two very high quality reels, Quang —-
Zebco partially merged with ABU —- and on the Cardinal 4, the Abu & Zebco are basically the same except for brand badging.
On the DAM Quick, first make sure it is a 221 high speed.
Because it has no "S" sticker (which are commonly missing), and the crank handle is not correct —- it is a 220 crank.
So just turn the handle (1) complete rotation —- to check if the rotor turns 3 or 5 times.
If (3) times, it is a 220 with an incorrect badge.
If (5) times, it is a 221 with an incorrect crank handle.
Let us know what you find out —- and I will send you the right parts to make your reel factory correct. N/C.
Best, Fred
Gear ratio on Dam Quick is 5:1 I must swap the handle with another and I do have 220 with longer handle .The Zebco must belong to 1 of my friend ,I never buy it or fish with it ,will try it out soon
Good morning, Quang —-
Great!
If you do have the longer crank handle on your 220 —- then you can just switch them out. If not, I'll send one out, along with a red "S" (high speed) sticker. Let me know. N/C.

If all the parts are in good working condition you will probably love that Cardinal 4. Most people do. Their main drawback is after a lot of use, weather aging and monofilament line use without backing or an arbor the front of the plastic spool has a tendency to pop off. If you like it as much as most people do you should contact Les Shaw in the UK and purchase an aluminum replacement spool.
https://www.classicvintagefishingtackle.com/buy/abu-cardinal-3-33-zebco-cardinal-3-black-anodised-aluminium-spool-2-2/
He also has gold and silver aluminum replacement spools.
Les Shaw is a top quality seller from the UK.
I buy my "3" & "4" aluminum Cardinal spools from jimmy82daiwa on eBay.
I guess a lot of us don't like to buy from Asia —- but this fellow is from Malaysia, and for those of you who know —- Malaysia is quite different from the rest of Asia.
Jimmy has over 23,000 sales and 100% positive feedback, 100%!
That doesn't happen by accident —- he runs a solid and honest operation. Check out his other items —- he has aluminum spools for most hard to replace spools. Including skirted spools. For example, replacing a skirted plastic spool on a ABU Cardinal 54 with an aluminum one —- makes that 54 bulletproof.
These are top quality spools at fair prices. Shipping is also reasonable at $16. Or multiple items for same shipping.
He shows longest shipping so that buyers don't get misled —- but I get stuff from him faster than I get it from Florida or Maine.
Plus he has lots of other stuff.

Les used to be a bit cheaper than Jimmy when spool & shipping were added together but with the stronger GB pound it looks like they are both about the same price nowadays. 😮 😊

Yep!
Both are excellent sellers of tough to find quality products for our angling needs.
Communication is also solid & responsive with both sellers.
