Title: Anise Butt
Post by: jgp12000 on January 18, 2025, 04:26:57 PM
I was trimming fat from a boston butt & some scraps had some meat On them so why not repurpose it,I put them in a small ziploc slathered with anise, supposedly catfish love licorice smelling anise.I am putting some in the minnow trap for science, a big chunk is slated for my catfish pole served on a circle hook no less.I wonder what Saltwater fish would think about this recipe ?

I had to bite my tongue...well I guess it would be figure.

A little hijack,

When my oldest daughter's JR high science fair project was building a to scale model of the solar system I mentioned the fact that Uranus had a ring around it and a debris cloud, my wife got very upset with me and I had to prove it to her.

A new hire millwright that I broke in for a week was introduced to me as Richard.  I called him Dick for 4 days until he told me he preferred to be called  Richard as his last name was Head.  We got a good laugh and became good friends.  Who would name their son Ricardo Cabeza??

We had a customer at our bar named John Wayne (first & middle), he had a brother named Kirk Douglas, and a sister named Mona Lisa...no joke

What were their parents thinking ?

Back on subject, lots of Puget sound guys use anise scent. It never made sense to me. Stinks like extra strong black licorice

Well, I've spent a lifetime with the last name of Gass. You can imagine. At least the rest of my name wasn't Richard Edward, which used to be a standing joke where I grew up.

My niece, Brooke, married a Trout.  When her first son was born my brother and me tried to get her to name him brown, it did not fly. When her second son was born we tried again with the same results. Soooo what does she do when her daughter was born?  She named her Amia Trout, the poor girl.
