Title: Tiburon Frame for Blackie 332
Post by: Andrew_v949 on January 31, 2025, 09:29:15 PM
Was looking to get a Tib frame for a 332 Blackie I just got here.  Contacted Tiburon to see if their 332 frame would be a direct swap, and the guy said that people have done it - but it required modification - and he wasn't exactly sure what mods were needed.  Can anyone shed some light on this before I pull the trigger?

Thanks!

The holes in the ring don't line up, you would have to drill them out to get them to fit
That reel should be plenty strong as is, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze

Granted I haven't fished the reel yet, but just squeezing the side plates when I had it mounted on my jig stick, I could see that there was a ton of flex in the reel.  Much more than my P220, and S338.

So judging by your picture, I'll have to just drill out the ring?  No need to tap it?

Yes,just drill out the rings.
The weak part of the reel is the side plates. A frame might help some
