just spooled my zebco cardinal 3, and it's uneven. the spool is thicker on the bottom.
there's no shim and i do notice the shaft moves up and down. how can i fix this? thank you!
More info would be very helpful.
Model, line, picture. Frequently overlooked when spooling spinning reels is reel drag pressure. Too little can cause what you have now, too tight can have the opposite affect.

just added "cardinal 3"
When spooling, lay the spool of line flat so the line is coming off the line spool in the opposite direction of the reel turning
I added a detailed comment on the Card 3 discussion.

yeah i do this. the line comes off counter clock wise. i don't have this issue with my other cardinals.
I see were you have no shim , little up and down on the shaft and fat on the bottom of the spool . How is the bail line guide aliment , is it 90 degrees ?

Joe, those line guide angles can't be adjusted because the bail arm is heavy plastic, but it does rest on the bail trip lever, so if the trip lever is bent outside the rotor it can affect the line guide angle a little bit, but very little.
:) I see now that the trip is on the same side , I was thinking 180 degrees.
