I was gifted a Ridgid 18v starter kit,it has 2,4,& 6 maH batteries w/charger.So I was looking at various tools & wondered if the other brand tools would work with Ridgid batteries. This lead down another rabbit hole, battery adapters ::) I have a Ryobi 18v drill/circular saw set I have been pleased with, just curious if anyone has used the battery adapters or keep it simple stick with same brand Ridgid tools.
side note. if your battery fails, these guys can refurbish it!!! https://www.mtobattery.com/
Having used Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, and Ridgid tools for over 40 years —- the only batteries that held up for me were the 12V Milwaukees & the Ridgids.
Had around 10-12 DeWalt 18V tools. Then the batteries started dying, or not taking a good charge, or both.
Switched over to Ridgid, and now have about 29 of their tools.
6 are corded, the rest are 18V.
They are well engineered, tough in any type of weather or jobsite condition, feel good, AND have a Lifetime Guarantee on the tool AND the batteries.
NOTE: IT IS IMPORTANT TO REGISTER YOUR RIDGID TOOLS AND BATTERIES WITHIN 90 DAYS OF PURCHASE, OTHERWISE THE LIFETIME WARRANTY WILL NOT BE HONORED.
And since I always buy on sale as a PRO member —- I also accumulated 12 or 13 batteries, chargers.
Now I had an issue of dead DeWalts —- and a pair of these 18V batteries for DeWalts were around $130 with tax. I was about to give them away or toss them —- when Joe, on our site suggested battery adapters, which I did not know about. This did a couple of things —- gave these good DeWalts a new life —- and saved me from having to explain to my wife why I tossed out the first HD DeWalt drill that she bought for my birthday 20 years ago —- and cost just under $300 at that time!
Bought some off of eBay or Amazon. They just fit perfectly and work great. So now I have DeWalts with Lifetime Warranties on the batteries.
They have adapters for nearly every brand of tool and batteries. Inexpensive and just makes sense.
Can't go wrong.
Best, Fred
