Title: another Cyclone
Post by: Donnyboat on March 07, 2025, 01:21:59 AM
Another cyclone, this time on the East coast, in the lower Queensland area, its not far of off the coast now, its a very densely populated area, of about 4,000,000 people, some areas have had over 16 inches of rain so far, most of the rivers will be flooding, by high tide time today, and the gold coast have registered waves up to 12.3 m high.
Its expected to reach the coast late this  arvo or early Saturday morning.
I did report on the last cyclone, in the Pilbra area about 3 weeks back, Marble bar, has been registering, several temps over 38C, it was 44C a day or 2 back, cheers Don.

Hope all goes well.  Does the existence of the Great Barrier Reef help blunt the tidal forces (kind of how the barrier islands on the Eastern US can dampen the tidal surge?)  Do the big cities on large bays like Syndey and Brisbane have to deal with a tidal surge that gets focused and intensified going into the bays?  Hope it all ends up for the best, we'll keep our fingers crossed for you! - john

Thanks John, I have`nt been in that area at all, they thought it had weekend to a rain bearing depression yesterday, but still getting a lot of rain, anyway over night the wind picked up again, & there getting rough weather further inland, so that will make the rivers swell even more, create a lot of flooding, cheers Don.

Stay safe. Our relatives are in NSW and our gran daughter is on the gold coast. All are safe but some wild weather.

Yes thanks Todd, there are a lot of high rise buildings along the coast, and there sell it eroding the banks getting very close, to them, although there is some islands of  shore in some areas, there is just to much swell and strong winds, I see on the early morning news, that the rain is still very constant, cheers Don.

I'm surprised a sand cliff can get that high without collapsing.  Good place to look for artifacts.
