Had a couple of good days crappie fishing on Lake Eufaula (the AL/GA one) Thursday and Friday. Caught a limit of 30 on Thursday and another 20 on Friday before the wind blew me off the lake. Wind gusts to 40 mph are forecast for today and tomorrow. So I'm giving them the weekend off. The better ones haven't come up to the bank to spawn yet. At least on my portion of the lake. I'm catching most of mine on structure in 20-30'. Several over 2 lbs. Minnows and jigs work equally well. Perch Jerkin'.

Yep, that was a channel cat. Got 3 or 4 of those, and a couple of blue cats, all on minnows. We don't have a size limit on Eufaula. Anything smaller than 8" or so is a pain to clean for not much meat, so I release them to catch next year.

Great fishing, Mike!
Good eating with those slabs!
Thanks for sharing.

What kind of lures are you using?

I use minnows but also vertical jig some 2 inch curly tail grubs on an 1/8 oz jig head. White grub with a pink head seems to work well this year in the stained water. I love me some spot-lock!
More and more crappie fishermen around here are using Live Scope and similar rigs to "shoot" docks and structure. Not me. I normally don't even keep fish unless someone asks for some. When I'm by myself I'll often keep a dozen or so in the live well just to give to a bank fisherman at the dock. Or let them go if no takers.

Crappie are the best tasting fish

natural & I prefer casting them,I have caught crappie, bass, bream,& even one catfish with these guys.

My M.O. is to have 2 minnow poles set out while
I cast the sickle tail with A 1/16 or 1/8oz black or
No paint jig head, preferably light wire or gold hooks crappie seem to like gold...
