Title: New to the board ( kind of )
Post by: Grim_joe on March 26, 2025, 11:48:33 AM
Hello from Georgia, I have been a member of AT for about a year but have not really posted much on the forum. I am a bonified Penn reel addict. I know a few of the members from Facebook and eBay. I have gotten a good bit of historical info from this forum. The members I have interacted with are great people and I look to have great interactions with more members as time goes on . This is a great forum and a seems to be a great place to bounce ideas around. Cheers Joey  :d

Yes, I fish with some of my Penn reels, My favorite is the Long Beach #259 ( I have about 25 in various configurations ) although someone has me gaining a greater appreciation for the 113H. I fish LB 259s in the surf for POMPs and whatever else will bite. I fish smaller Penn conventional reels and Spinfishers  on the flats for trout redfish and whatever else will bite. Offshore I take my bigger senators and always have my Torque 40N which is a dream to fish with, bottom fishing for grouper, snapper, or whatever will bite. I am going in to a new territory in the next month or so doing some trolling, trying to target king mackerel and wahoo and of course whatever will bite.

Maxed Out, on a side note I have to get my Albacore from an outside source, because I can't eat tuna from a can anymore.

I had to look up the LB 259 at mystic to see the specs,I have a LB 60 Gfish gave me.It appears they all have  2.5:1 gears.

The 259 is basically a 1/0 wide or a slow non take apart Jigmaster 500 same spool just slow retrieve. It is just a classy reel.
