You're right ,I can't find that anymore i have only 1 of that blank, looking for more to make them
Two thoughts here: True Temper (maker of golf shafts and also rod blanks for a time) clearly has backround in this. I am guesssing golf is where the $$$ are, since they are still heavily invested. And I have seen more than one Morro Bay rockfish stick made out of a fiberglass golf course flag... - john
There are golfclub making component suppliers with shafts for every budget. Cheaper than searching the pawn shops. You would probably want a ladies flex or seniors flex rating.
It's a shame I don't like golf. Selling custom rods to the rich ppl I work with would probably yield more scratch than my occasional rod builds.
I make gaffs from broken clubs, they work great.
This is what I get so far .Using the last blank that I bought so far .It is 4' long ,I cut off 1 " on the tip match with longest golf shaft that I can find 42" .They're match good and good bent even with rod blank and golf shaft .Most 2 pieces rod blank have 2 equal section ,these are not so I glue them together to make 1 piece rod , wet sand with 320 sand paper and paint it black

I use to get carbon golf club for $1 .The price been increase ,yesterday I get a whole bag for $15.00 keep only 6 carbon clubs and put back the rest .I never go to golf supply but don't think they cheaper than that
Who says 2 piece rods need to have even length pieces? I find it more aesthetically pleasing when they match but it's never made me put a rod back down because of it.

No body say they have to be even length but most if not all on market even length

John, how many were yours >:D
It's been a while I have no update on these golf club rods ,some order from China took too long to ship ,some even ask me to pay 75% more for Trump tax so I have to cancel it .I have 2 golf club rods and 1 heavy rod that need double foot guides and I need bigger eye on tiptop to allow knots easy to go though but handles already install . Also finish lots of fiberglass rods
On the heavy rod I use #18 metal reel seat ,the lighter rod use #16 graphite reel seat
:) Nice Work ..
Hi Quang, try dressing the cork, with one coat of thread sealer, to coats could be to much, thanks for posting, cheers Don.
OK, will do that
Finish one golf club rod .This one is heavy and slow action rod , can handle up to 4OZ bait . I use big guides and # 12 tiptop and double tread wrap . the bad part is big guide position right next to the joint make it look ugly but function good , try many different set up but can not get the big guide away from the joint
Feels like a LOT of guides for a spin guide-train. And the second guide looks very tall?
You're right ,I was try to locate the guides to avoid at the joint between 2 pieces . Also the guides was too heavy ,I already removed all guides ,sand the blank and repaint it ,had to stop working on these for a while as my lady wants to built a patio in back yard for the grandkids to play ,spent 2 weeks to finish the patio then we have to go to Corpus Christi to watch 3 grandkids while their parent have to go to Japan
Keep them coming buddy, looks really interesting, I vissit a waste disposal sight every so often, always heaps of clubs plus buggies, I will have to ask what money he is asking, cheers Don.
I will Don ,when I come back to Houston I will have to build a patio for my friend then pull out 1 Honda lawnmower get it ready for another friend but I will get more serious about rod building as I just pull out from storage a bunch of rod blanks , lots of cork ,fuji handles and rod building material and get from my son in law a fancy rod wrap station also bought 10 more golf clubs .Picture of my son in law 32" trout
Just get back from Corpus Christi after 3 weeks take care of 3 grandkids so my daughter and son in law vacation in Japan . Took home lots of rod building stuff that enough for me in years
Gee look out fish, when he makes all of them, that will keep you of the streets for a whyle man, cheers Don.
My goodness. I don't often actually get jealous on here. But I very much am right now.
:) Nice pile of parts . What are the one piece long blanks you have there ?

I don't know ,All I know they are American made blanks ,more stiff than IM6 I think IM8 ,some MH some Medium and most are fast to X-fast action
After I'm back from Corpus Christi I'm working on stone paver for my friend and still not done yet but every day I'm working a little on rods before go sleep
-there is a flipping rod from BFS that the handle get chew up from dog I replaced handle
-A golf club rod that I re-work the 3rd time that seem work OK this time ,good for boat rod for deep sea .This time I mix up with some very old guides and new guides
-A light action BFS HM85 graphite that got broken 2" from tip I add a golf club to made a 8'rod ,very sensitive rod good for trout on Jetty or jigging for crappie
-A long blank I add about 9" with golf club shaft and cut some tip to make 8' surf rod ,this one have no guides yet
that looks nice, I would like to see a close view of the join, also the cork with a lot of holes in the cork, I grind cork fine with the wife's kitchen grater, mix it with wood filler, then work it into the cork, sand it down, once it sets, then one coat of thread binder, looks nice and smooth, cheers Don.
I did about the same ,cord have lots of holes as second grade and I do use wood filler and cord seal .Not perfect but good enough to me
