Title: Garcia GK-22
Post by: jigmaster501 on April 09, 2025, 11:54:21 PM
Hey everyone,

I have an old GK-22 that I used many years ago with my father. Found it after many years. It needs a new bail as the bail has the groove from the line. The wire does not come out of the roller (stationary) otherwise I would have flipped it over.

Does anyone have a new bail for this reel? More of a sentimental thing for an upcoming flounder trip in New Hampshire.

Can't find one online.

Thanks,

Eugene

those Kingfisher reels were Japan-made, and never had any parts supply.
I had the same reel which was badged as a Point Sportsman. The bail grooved and I had to discard the reel, couldn't find parts even in the 70s when they were being made.
Probably will have to haunt ebay looking for an entire reel, is going to be the only way to get a new bail arm..
I see numbers of them out there, will have to be careful as most will probably have the same groove we do.. ha.

Check the depth of the groove.  I have had some success in polishing those out with a Dremel-type tool & carbide polishing points.
