Then I went to the dock the frog was just sitting on top of the water while I am baiting up my bream pole with a worm,a 3# bass appeared outta no where grabbed the
Frog & it was on after that!

An old school Hula-Popper. Never used the soft imitations, but I'd think they would be better. I like how slowly a top water lure can be fished. Cast it in, then wait before gently moving it. I remember some people would time it to a couple of minutes.
My pond is 2 acres long & narrow,with 10lb braid I can cast this frog across the pond & reel it into the water kinda stealthy.This a.m. I got a strike on the opposite side of the pond ;D
well like most things you get what you pay for,I sprung for a booyah pad crasher jr. it lays flat in the water at idle
whereas the ozark trail head points up.This is with both being drained of water.The ozark trail works nonetheless
I think the 2" smaller frog is easier for smaller bass to inhale,slower retrieve seems better regardless.They can't stand these frogs !!!

For pond fishing, I still have the best luck with the Lunkerhunt - Lunker & Pocket Croaker Frog. It most resembles the frogs in the immediate surroundings, looks very realistic and presents well.
I've had good success with setting the hook and their weedless nature. My main issue is there are times when they fill with water and sit low on the surface. Price is a bit higher than others like the Ozark's frogs.
However, what I really like about pond frog fishing in Tx is the explosion of the bite. It has a similar feel about it that reminds me of fly fishing for trout back in western PA.
I have a frog lure that I've thrown hundreds of times, not a nibble. I just stopped trying. Probably user error.
Try it in the late evening, and all the way until it's dark. Cast, wait 2 min., just barely move it, and so on. Hide yourself after the cast. No bites? And it's dark, make some noise with it.
We have a lot of frogs around our pond,some ponds do not,so maybe its not a natural food source at certain ponds? But, a pink plastic worm isn't either ?
There are a gazillion tadpoles around the edges of the pond,once I caught a bream with one on a #10 hook.
I dunno, most of these "frog" lures look nothing like an actual frog. I had a frog lure that had actual rubber legs, not tassels, but they got bitten off.
