Title: Shimano Ocea 17+ Braid
Post by: boon on April 14, 2025, 09:35:55 PM
Sheesh, braid just keeps on developing. Shimano has just launched a 17 carrier solid braid - from the marketing guff it sounds like it's basically a 16-carrier hollow braid with a larger core strand running up the middle. Let's see if this picture works:

EDIT: Picture, did not work, click here for diagram:

Interesting that it's slightly weaker for a given diameter than the existing Ocea 8.

I read the product review today on a Japanese blog. It seems like a nice product but for now only formats of about 300 meters.

Plat is selling it in 1200m (I think 4x300 uncut?) spools. The price is crazy, $135USD for a 300m spool. I can buy hollowcore cheaper than that.
