Title: Xtreme Reel lubricant
Post by: hibneth on June 01, 2009, 03:44:20 PM
Alan,

I read your post on the Xtreme Reel product and ordered a bottle, followed your tutorial on my Avet two speeds and noted the amazing freespool time increase from 40 seconds pre-Xtreme Reel to about 4 mins post-Xtreme Reel.  I put the reels away and let them sit for about a month, then got them out this weekend and tested them again.  Both reels are now at 20 seconds of freespool, so I took them apart and reapplied the Xtreme product and sure enough they came back to over three minutes of freespool.  It appears to me that you need to reapply this product on a frequent interval basis in order for it to be effective.  Any thoughts?  Also, are you using this product on your own Accurate reels?

Thanks,

Tom - MyTurn

the freon carrier will wash away most of the lube that is already in the bearing.  it's best to clean the bearings with carb cleaner first to get rid of ALL the residue.  otherwise, yes, you will have to reapply it before you go fishing.  still, it's pretty impressive stuff!  alan
