Title: Directv Gurus?
Post by: jgp12000 on April 27, 2025, 01:01:37 PM
While I was installing the Gemini my wife informed me on certain channels we get an error code 771.This began before the Gemini install. If you lose the satellite signal with Directv now it switches to streaming via the internet however, you can not record anything on the DVR.I did all the signal tests & found a few errors,my question is this can the dish alignment be off just a little to explain the missing channels? I haven't contacted Directv & prefer not to.I haven't attempted to adjust the dish yet.I wonder if it could be a receiver problem rather that a dish alignment issue?

In my case, it was loose connector.  Was finger tight, then I used pliers, no 771 since then.

I disconnected a connector to do some landscaping.

I found one loose cable & that's what the directv chatter recommended, still 771. It seems like if it was a loose cable it would affect all channels.

The dish was out of alignment,I tried the azimuth adjustment no change. Then I adjusted the elevation & was able to screw up a channel I was getting.I got it back, then I turned the entire dish on the pole until I got all channels with the satellite feed. I tightened all bolts & marked ithe position with a sharpie so if it ever gets bumped again I know where it works ::)
