Title: Penn Squall 16VS weird sound
Post by: steelfish on May 20, 2025, 01:13:42 AM
NO NO, its not the same reel that was broken in half in this thread https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,39856.0.html

this one is another different reel, from another person, it was sent to me for regular maintenance and to check for a strange sound it makes when you crank the handle kinda fast, it makes something as a rattle sound, like if something like a small metalic "leaf" "sheet" scratch inside agains the high speed gear, because it only makes the sound on high gear, if you crank slow there is no rattle sound, if you put the reel on low-speed also no rattle sound even cranking the handle fast.

of course I opened the reel, searched for something outta place or bent and couldnt found the culprit, my guess its has to be related to the dogs but not sure.

check the video, its not that easy to catch the "weird" rattle sound but you will hear the difference sound of the dogs clicking vs the "ugly" sound when I speed up, you will hear it as a damped second sound that will make the reel noisy.
