Title: Emile Rochard's reel
Post by: Paul Rochard on June 01, 2025, 10:08:39 AM
Hello,

Here are some photographs of the commemorative version of the millionth Mitchell reel given to Emile Rochard in 1957. Currently, it appears that three examples are attested (but it is very likely that there are actually five).

Kind regard

Paul Rochard

Beautiful.  Fine accolade to a great reel & reel company.

It's pretty, but you would think they would depict a fish that is pursued by anglers.

Carp are gamefish in Europe.

Common Carp are also known as European Carp or Eurasian Carp.  The Latin name is Cyprinus carpio.  Koi are also Cyprinus carpio bred for the color variants.

Fancy goldfish are the same as Crucian Carp.  The Latin name is Carassium auratus

Goldfish are an invasive species in Europe.  Both Common Carp and Goldfish are invasive species in North America even though the common carp were intentionally stocked by our government.

Those are fancy goldfish painted on the reels.

Caught this big ol' toad today on a crank bait while fishing for walleye, believe it or not. 5'-9" ML ExFast 6-12# 64 Million Modulus custom graphite rod I built a few years back with a black ABU Garcia Card 4 w/8# Trilene XL. It zipped the drag right along and pretty much went wherever it wanted to for a little while.  ;D

I have 30"(12#) grass carp in my pond,I have only caught on live bait, worm or cricket, never a lure.
It seems they just wait on the fish feeder to go off now...lazy now not eating dollar weed :o

Paul, maybe you would be willing to share with the MRM site (forum) your pictures for the 1,000,000 Mitchell.

They have a link on their old site where the photos are missing.  Maybe it would encourage them to seek out pictures to restore their photo gallery.

I would be delighted to share these photographs and help reestablish the Mitchell Reel Museum, although I'm also waiting for La Canne à Pêche's contributions to be considered and past mistakes to be corrected. I'll deal with that later when the site is ready.

However, the site you gave me seems like a ghost site, unusable. I can't register for this old forum or open the old threads there.

The old forum is gone and non-functioning.  I see the old code as a sign that someone is trying to revive the site.  We'll need to wait until that someone completes the task, if that is their intent.
