A lot of old used DAM Quicks come across the bench, and are mailed in from all over.
Many are fairly used, maybe bought by the sender over 50 years ago —- and they would like them serviced & restored to fishability condition. Or it was a gift, or belonged to Gramps, or their Dad. Lots from yard & garage sales and e-Bay.
I have only seen one out of thousands that could not be restored to near new.
Here is a DAM Quick 440 that was a yard sale deal. It was mounted on a baitcasting rod upside down. There were (4) layers of line on the spool.
Client wanted a basic restore and also the crank handle switched to the other side.
Finished it up yesterday, sent it back today.
It is as smooth as oiled glass. Just needed a few minor parts.
Fun to do these for folks. They are always surprised and amazed.
Best, Fred
This is my reel, received it back today. To think I almost trashed it when I first got it. So glad I held onto it and eventually found this forum and specifically Fred. We are so lucky to have someone restoring vintage equipment like this.
