I haven't found an Abumatic section yet?I was curious if anyone else has any of these reels. I still have my Dad's 72' ABUmatic 290 it works flawlessly.
I just got a minty 120 just as smooth.
Yeah, I got a 120. My Dad got my younger brother one back on the late 60's. Mine's part of a mini-collection of spincasters because that one was so nice when I tried it. Well made, interesting color and a unique feature to decrease drag friction through the crank-handle without having to move a hand to some knob.
The color is what caught my eye,the 290 has dual pickups.I wonder if one could be added to the 120,prolly don't need it I haven't fished it yet.
Wait till you play around with that easy drag loosening feature. About 1/4 turn backwards gives you the quick control you might need when a big'un takes-off as it gets in close.
The little button on the top of the gearbox side-plate releases the spool for removal.

Pretty reel!
There is a ABU_GARCIA section under "Spinning Reel Rebuild Tutorials and Questions".
That is where I have posted a couple ABUMATIC reel manuals.
Nice purchase.

Steve,
I emailed Wayne the guy that started https://www.realsreels.com/reels/abumatic/default.html
He knows all about
Abumatics & has a nice collection of them.

Does Wayne even respond to emails these days? I didn't think he was very active on his site anymore.
It took a few days but he did.
